More Graduation Pics.

Maya's Preschool Graduation!

Today, Maya officially graduated from preschool. I can't even begin to think about Kindergarten which is just around the corner. When did she grow up?

Her school had a lovely ceremony for the graduates which included diplomas, the moving of the tassles, signing autographs, and cake. It really was so cute to watch all of the kids proudly walk over the "bridge" to accept their diplomas.

Congrats Maya on a job well done.

Karate kai!

Kai asked to join Karate a couple of months ago and absolutely LOVES it. He asks every day "Mommy, what day is it again? How many more days until karate?".
Kai is one of the youngest in his class and definately the smallest. Miss Debbie praises his wonderful listening skills and his efforts to try everything...even when things are really difficult for him. Today, towards the end of his class, Miss Debbie approached me and asked is Maya and I would like to come back to the classroom to watch Kai receive his yellow-white belt. I was so surprised and excited for Kai.
After the short ceremony, all of the kids congratulated Kai. I've never seen Kai shine so bright and wear such a proud smile as he did today. Contrats Kai. We are so proud of you.

Not Necessity, but Assessory!

Maya and Kai recently earned a special treat. When I asked them what they wanted the treat to be, Maya mentioned that she wanted a pair of "real" glasses. Of course, Kai wanted a pair also. So that very evening, we took a trip to Claire's and we all picked out a pair of very real looking glasses (without the prescription lenses of course). Maya picked a beautiful rainbow pair while Kai chose a grey/black pair. They begged me to get a pair also...how could I argue? So I picked out a very stylish black pair.
We all wore our new glasses out to dinner the very next day. I have to say, I quite enjoy wearing this new assessory.

Happy 4th Birthday Kai!

I can't believe that Kai is four. My how he has grown up so much during this past year. To celebrate the big "4", we (Dom, Maya, Kai, me, Didi, Papa, and Nanny)ventured into Chicago to see Peter Pan at a children's theater. The show was fantastic and offered so many opportunities for the audience to chime in during the production. Afterwards, Maya and Kai were able to meet all of the cast members including getting pictures and autographs. Wow, what a treat.

When given the choice of where to eat in Chicago, Kai said he wanted to go to "the place with the funny waiters", which means to Ed Debevics (a great 50's diner). We celebrated with huge milkshakes, burgers, amd unique entertainment from the wait staff.

I think Kai was most excited about his new Lightning McQueen car from Nanny. He and Maya drove it until the battery was dead.

Happy birthday to our favorite boy. We love you to the moon and back and couldn't imagine life without you.

Making Kai's Birthday Cake!

Sadly, our "cake lady" moved to Arizona this past winter. When it came time to make a cake for kai's birthday, we were at a loss.h We looked on the internet for ideas and Kai loved the design of this cake and insisted that we make it. We gave it our best shot and I think it came out O.K. . The important thing is that Kai absolutely loved it and it actually tasted great too. Besides, the kids had a blast decorating it.
